Hearing Is Believing...

Tour 5 - The Symptoms

The Positive Skew compounds in the electromagnetic envelope throughout the entire Recording and Playback phase.

The end result is a very distorted signal that creates a whole host of issues, from limiting gear performance to creating acoustical room issues.

So wait... What exactly is Distortion anyways?

Distortion is an artificial energy that is added to the signal.

It is not part of the original signal, but is accumulated over time through the processing of that signal through ANY AND ALL devices.

But what do all these Non-linear Distortions and Skewed signals equate to?

  • Extra distortion energy creates excessive heating in speaker voice coils, causing early sound breakup, lowering power handling capabilities, and limiting performance.
  • Extra distortion energy becomes wasted power and excessive heat in amplifiers.
  • Skew causes a loss In the original clarity, punch, and definition of the signal.
  • Skewed and Misaligned frequencies force a small, shallow stereo Image with "hot" and "cold" listening spots.
  • Skewed and Misaligned frequencies generate an unbalanced sound, creating acoustical room issues such as standing waves, comb filtering distortion, and brittle highs that are painful to the listener. These issues then require the use of room fixes to try and "tame" the sound. These techniques seem to only "box in" or "quarantine" a sound that otherwise wants to open up and breathe.

In general, music seems to lack the passion and intimacy that has been clouded in the mix due to the signal processing skew.

And with that skew and inharmonious balance, ANY AND EVERY SYSTEM will always fall short of what it is capable of delivering.

Until Now...
